tattoos; Alaska (June-mid July) 2025

35mm film June 2025, little islands of Jakolof Bay, Dena’ina and Alutiiq Sugpiaq peoples land (Kenai Peninsula, AK). Holy waters and lands, expansive far northern place, of magnificent swinging tides and the midnight summer sun, of ancient land spirits and ancestors who held these tattoos with long daylight and rain and laughter, thank you, may these pieces be in service to your continued radiance and abundance.

For my beloved sister Heather - Aspen leaves for her forever heart home of the high Southwest, river for the desert waters who have known her since her birth, moon to kiss together and tie the piece into her epic vulture backpiece (not by me). Whole flow peeling off of the fifth or sixth tattoo I ever did on another human, a handpoke I did on Heather’s couch in March 2018.

One sneaky June San Diego piece done a couple days before we left for Alaska (the only piece I did in San Diego in June, otherwise I was sick or traveling) - Mountain and moon additions to a river flow on Sam, from a piece we made in late 2023.

For Margaret, made with a visit from a moose mama and her two babies - for the great current transition in her life, coming into remembrance of who she is and choosing a new path forward.

35mm film, June 2025. Blessed be the ever turning of earth and spirit, of fireweed beginning blooming, that beauty will remain even amidst all of our human uncertainty. Blessed be our making and declaring with ink and body, that we believe in this resilient beauty, beyond the horizon that we can see.
